Hello, I'm from an italian community about Monkey Island and graphic adventures (can I post the link? or is it considered spam?). We discovered Maniac Mansion Madness thanks to Giocherellone, another user of this forum. He told us about your big project and he asked us if we were interested in translating some episodes of MMM in italian, and we thought it would be a great idea. Unfortunately, for now, there aren't people who understand german among us, but we wold like to try to translate the episodes that already have an english version.

hy(in german moin,moin^^), Blackmonkey in our forum page! I think it is great to translate episodes in italian. MMM have very good episodes and it would be great when person like you can play games from MMM(not in german^^)

The problem is there aren't so many MMM-developer who translated their games in English, but in my opinion some of us would like to start translating their games in English to send you English-Translation-Files for the Italian translating.
We are an open-minded community so it may be not a challenge to let you translate our episodes into Italian. :) So I hope someone will give you an answere soon.

That's true, only ten episodes are available in english, but I hope that translating them in italian will attract some (italian) fans that speak german. Or german fans that speak italian ^^
I've searched for the authors of those episodes in the user list, but I couldn't find three of them...
Anyway, I sent a minute ago a PM to KhrisMUC, asking for the english translation file of episode 2.

I would love to see my episode 53 translated to Italian :) there is already an English translation, so if you want, you can translate it any time ;) but there is a lot of text to translate since this episode is longer than regular episodes :cl

Thank you. We would start with one episode, so we can have an idea of how much time it will take to translate. So far, I think that the translators would be two (including me), but as I said, I hope this project will attract more people.

We have an English-Bernard-Starterpack and it's possible that you can create an Italian-Starterpack yourselves, if anyone would try to create an own episode.

that's very good, that KhrisMuc and Bòógie have sent you their translation-files. :)
And remember, the translation-files have to be translated in TXT-File, not in word, because AGS can't upgrate word-files as translations.

Pretty cool! :) Is the Italian version of Bernard's room ready to upload or is it already?
Edit: I've watched the Italian Version of Bernard's room now and it's great to see another translated MMM-episode, but I also realized, that the Spanish flag is among the British and the Italian missing. There is a Spanish translation-file in the game-rar-file, too.

The english starterpack is for AGS 2.7.1, but I have found only AGS 2.7.2... does somebody know where I can download it?
You can also open the English starterpack for version 2.71 with AGS 2.72. After opening the English starterpack with AGS 2.72, you only can open it with AGS 2.72 again.

We are still alive!!! As you may have guessed, the attempt to translate the starterpack wasn't successful (troubles with verbs' images that won't appear). Then came commitments, studying, etc. etc. But now we would like to start again with episode translation.
I see that there are 10 episodes already in english, but some of the authors aren't active since long time (someone even more than me!). Is it still possible to get the text files needed for the translation?
PS: we now have also a small international section on our forum.

Ep.83 is finished (and we also found all 5 eastereggs)!
Moreover, our tester found a way to add the italian GUI even without having the AGS game files.

Probably the best episode ever is "#93 - Murder on the Moonshine Mansion" and it would surely deserve a translation.
In two days my first episode, #94, will be published and I would really like to see it translated to Italian. I suggest you take a look at it and send me a message if you're interested in translating it. I would gladly support you and give you all the files you need and answer any questions you have.

but I think this should not happen without the author's permission the author should at least have the last word on if the translation can be published or not a not so well done translation could ruin the gaming experience of the whole episode :cl

Yes, I absolutely agree with you :) I think the result would still be a TRA file. We had a similar issue with episode 83, for which the author had lost the most recent game files. In that case we extracted and re-made the TRS, TRA and acsprset.spr files (the latter to add the italian GUI), but that was made in AGS 3.xx, while Ep 77 is in AGS 2.7x.
Maybe we could work on your episode, Halloween 05-3 Day of the Dead?

The Google-Translator is a very useful tool to understand textes in languages to don't know. I also use it, when I'm reading in your italian board. ;) It just isn't useful to get a valid translation. For this, it makes too much grammatical mistakes.

Yes, true. It's useful to get the meaning of the dialogues, but then every phrase needs to be checked.
